Visiting India
Jaipur is situated in the northwest of India, and features on a common visitor route known as the Golden Triangle alongside Agra (Taj Mahal) and New Delhi.

In the northwest visitors also often add Ranthambore (Tiger reserve) and Udaipur (City of Lakes) to their itinerary.
Direct flights are available from Jaipur to many popular Indian destinations (Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa).

If you would like any assistance in planning your itinerary, we will share details of our travel agent here soon.
-
When is the RSVP deadline? Please RSVP as soon as you can, but preferably by October 31st, 2023. We understand last minute changes happen, so reach out to craigtanushree.wedding@gmail.com if you have any issues.
-
Can I bring a date? Please check the RSVP for details of your +1!
-
Are children welcome?Yes; however, please note the venue doesn't a have babysitting service or amenities aimed towards children. If you are staying at the venue and will need a cot, please let us know ahead of time.
-
What should I wear? Please see our clothing guide for dress code information, including sources to buy Indian clothes if you'd like. However, don't feel obligated to buy new clothes for the wedding!
-
Are there any colours that guests should avoid wearing?Indian weddings tend to be colourful - we recommend wearing bright colours throughout the festivities. The only colour we ask you to avoid is all-white on the day of the wedding.
-
What's the best way to get communications during the wedding? We ask you to please download Whatsapp on your phones as that will be our main way of communicating before and during the wedding.
-
I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay? For those arriving from outside of Jaipur, we are excited to host you as our guests on the nights of the 1st and 2nd at the venue. Your room is complimentary, and you do not need to contact the venue/make a reservation.
-
How do I get to/from Samode?Samode Palace is only accessible via vehicle. We will provide pre-scheduled transport from Jaipur to Samode on the morning of Feb 1st, and a return on the morning of Feb 3rd. Those wishing to use the shuttle will be able to opt in using the separate arrival and departure forms.
-
Will there be things to do around the venue?During the two days of the wedding festivities, there will be minimal downtime. The venue is located in a small village with limited amenities. We will have provisions for most things including common OTC medication and food. If you need anything, please ask our events team at the front desk. The nearest large city is Jaipur (~45 minutes by car).
-
When should I arrive? We understand the trip to India is a long one, so please arrive when it's most convenient. The festivities start on February 1st, and those staying with us will be able to check in to their rooms that day any time after noon.
-
Is breakfast available?Breakfast is available to guests staying at the hotel, in addition to meals served at the events.
-
What should I bring? We recommend you bring anything you expect to need e.g., outfits, shoes, medication, sunscreen etc. We will have some basics available if needed, but there is no pharmacy or other shops near the venue. There is a gift shop on site with casual Indian clothing, jewelry, and other items.
-
Do I need a visa to travel to India?Yes. For (most) non-Indian citizens you need to get an e-visa to travel to India, which must be obtained at least 72 hours before travelling (but can be started up to 120 days before travel). The application can be accessed here. If your visa application requires an address please use: Samode Palace, Tehsil, Village Samode, Chomu, Rajasthan 303806
-
What will the weather be like?During the day expect sunny skies (~68 - 75 F / 20 - 23 C) outside; During the evening expect chillier temperatures going as low as 45 F / 7 C. All our events are outside, so please pack accordingly and bring layers. We recommend inner warmers and shawls as it gets darker. Most hotels in India don't have a central heating system; however, Samode Palace can provide portable heaters and extra blankets if needed. We recommend packing something warm to wear to bed just in case.
-
How do I get to Jaipur? There are no direct international flights to Jaipur. Those arriving into Delhi can take a connecting flight, train, or car service. If you are entering India via any other airport you should connect to Jaipur via plane.
-
Do I need to worry about food, water, and / or insects? All food and water at the events will be safe to consume. Tap water across India is not drinkable, so we recommend using bottled water to drink and brush your teeth (provided in your room). Outside of the venue, we recommend avoiding street food, particularly if it is raw/not freshly prepared. In the winter, and in Jaipur, there are not a lot of insects. However, Samode Palace is surrounded by nature, so there is the possibility of occasional insects in the buildings.
-
Where should we travel post wedding?Jaipur (the bride's hometown) is a short drive from the venue and a beautiful, historic city - if you have time, we recommend spending a day or two exploring there. In addition, you are very close to other major travel destinations, including Agra (Taj Mahal), Delhi, Ranthambore, and Udaipur. See the Visiting India section for more details!
